When certain rockers sing about booze, it sometimes sounds a little weird, depending on who’s performing. But not when Billy Gibbons and Dusty Hill do it. I believe every single world in “Beer Drinkers and Hell Raisers”, one of my favorite ZZ Top tunes. Well, seems like it’s time for another round of drinks and, since I stopped drinking alcohol, even more importantly for me, they trio completed by drummer Frank Beard have a new single and video out. Actually, the video is not theirs but it’s rather them appearing on a Jeremiah Weed commercial, taken several customers in a liquor store by surprise as they open a cooler to grab some drinks. It’s actually pretty cool, check it out here:
From what I understand, the featured single “I Got To Get Paid” will make it on their upcoming album which is produced by who else but Mr. Rick Rubin.
ZZ Top is also getting ready for a mega tour advertised as the Gang of Outlaws, where they will get supported by 3 Doors Down and Gretchen Wilson. I just checked the tour calendar and unfortunately there’s nothing in a close enough venue from where I live. Anyway, I certainly look forward to the new album which is yet to be titled.
