Excellent! I’ve been waiting on that for a while. I always liked The Who and admired Pete Townshend as a guitarist. I just hope that his memoirs will not be too much focused around battered hotel rooms and women – yes, that’s interesting, too, however, for very selfish reasons I am more interested in his career as an guitarist. I remember when I read Eric Clapton’s autobiography a few years ago, I was a little disappointed that the Cream era was covered on a few pages only, while his endeavor to win over George Harrison’s wife – along with his unfortunate struggle with drugs and booze – seemed to be the prevailing theme of the whole book.
Okay, here is the man himself giving you a glimpse of what you can expect from Who I Am:
Well, I am sure that Pete Townshend has plenty of cool stories to share with us. Whenever I hear other guitarists talking about Pete, it appears that everybody seemed to dig his work – it’s almost as if they looked up to him, simply because of his phenomenal stage presence.
The Pete Townshend Memoirs “Who I Am” will be available in the United States on October 8, 2012 and a on October 11, 2012, in the UK. However, you can secure your copy now via pre-order through amazon.
