And one more super popular 80ies Christmas song in today’s online guitar lesson. We will be looking at Wham’s smash-hit and how to play ‘Last Christmas’ on guitar. Good news here, it’s super easy and even the guitar beginners among you guys will be able to play along with the original in no time. Now, I will admit, what I prepared for you is the simplified version. Therefore, it’s not 100% accurate, but still good enough. However, if you feel differently, drink 3 glasses of mulled wine and a couple of cold beers in between. You won’t notice the difference, I promise…
All kidding aside, as I just mentioned, today we will be doing the ‘Last Christmas’ easy guitar chord version. We need a total of six chords but as you will see, they are all on a beginner level and should therefore not pose not too big of a challenge to you.
Before you watch the video lesson, please download and print the worksheet with all the Last Christmas Tabs and Lyrics from here. That way it makes it even easier to follow along with the tutorial below.
I recommend that you keep the strumming pattern simple. Using down-strokes as demonstrated in the lesson works well. For those of you who like to spice things up a little bit, look at the strumming pattern I showed you in the second part of the video.
Lastly, you can use a capo in any fret of your choice. For demonstration purposes, I didn’t use a capo because most of you prefer me to do my lessons without it. But with that being said, for those of you who are not as intimidated by that guitar accessory, play around with it.
